Myers Wins 2010 Open

On a very sunny day just a couple miles north of South Padre Island, TX was a rumble of thunder. This was no ordinary thunder, but golf thunder when Jeremy Myers carded 5 long putts, 2 pars, and 3 bogeys to rack up 43 points during the front nine of Round 3. The dominating presence on Sunday was plenty to take a commanding lead of the Carl Spackler Open.

Myers entered his 10th straight tournament averaging 1.6 pars and 3.9 bogeys per round. He completed his tournament with 9 pars, 12 bogeys, and and a tournament high 36 putt points. "I am not someone who ever considers the possibility of manevering of the ball," said Myers on Wednesday night. "It just seemed like the ball was going places it rarely does. That being straight or in the hole."

Jay opened the 2010 Carl Spackler Open Championship with 65 points. "It was good and definitely nothing special. Jay Dilks was my playing partner and shot a 1-under 35 on the front nine worth 51 points. He settled down on the back nine, but had a clear lead after Round 1."

Myers finished Round 1 with a 34-over 106.

He went to bed early and returned for "moving day". The 2002 Al Czverik Outfit receipent teed off the front nine Saturday and scored another 58 points.

Myers finished things off on Sunday morning when he carded 43 points on the front nine while shooting a 24-over 50. "I credit Jay Dilks with keeping me grounded out there," said Myers. "Dilks and Wayne Rutter deserve the cuff links from my jacket."

Myers took home the 2010 Championship Trophy and Golden Jacket. Jay Dilks and Brian Flanagan tied for 2nd place.

In other news, Glenn Hoffert hacked his way to his 2nd Al Czverik Outfit and first ever Carl Spackler Outfit. He got a head start to this year's disaster when he posted a 48-over 120 during Round 1.

Jason Watson took home the 2010 Horses Ass Award after his iron slipped out of his hands and flew into a homeowners swimming pool. Brian Flanagan won the Skill Challenge Contest with a hole-in-one from 133 yards. As expected, Kevin Long received a life-time ban from Louie's Backyard on Saturday night after an amazing day on the beach.
